A 34kg-stock of Kerala Cannabis was retrieved on Pungudutivu Island in Jaffna during a search operation by the Sri Lanka Navy on January 15.
Accordingly, 16 parcels were recovered stashed in a large sack in the shrubbery along the Iruppidi beach of the Pungudutivu Island in Jaffna.
The operation was executed by SLNS Gotaimbara in the Northern Naval Command.
The Sri Lanka Navy estimates that the consignment of the Kerala Cannabis which was later handed over to the relevant authorities for legal proceedings has a street value over Rs. 13 million.
