Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena exhorted the United Kingdom to delve into new investment prospects in Sri Lanka's pharmaceuticals and education secotors, banking and financial services plus, hospitality and tourism industry during his meeting with the newly designated British High Commissioner.
Strengthening bilateral ties, Andrew Patrick, the newly appointed British High Commissioner met with Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena earlier in the week together with Secretary to the Prime Minister, Anura Dissanayake and Second Secretary of the British High Commission, Siobhan Latham at the Temple Trees.
Making known of his firm resolve towards strengthening close ties and development assistance between the two counties, the High Commissioner commented positively on growing involvement of British Universities and academic institutions in Sri Lanka’s education system.
Commissioner Patrick also entered upon possible extension of English Language teaching facilities combined with the British Council.
At the meeting, Prime Minister Gunawardena further underlined Sri Lanka’s promotion for UK speculation and urged the private sphere’s contribution in establishing investment endeavours.
