A new Faculty of Medicine is to be established at the National School of Business Management (NSBM) under the supervision and regulations of the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Health and the Sri Lanka Medical Council.
The Homagama Base Hospital will serve as a suitable government hospital for clinical training for the degree.
An number of 500 local and foreign students are expected to enrolled annually for the relevant degree.
The Cabinet Ministers approved the proposal presented by President Ranil Wickremesinghe to take over the Hospital under the purview of the Ministry of Health and upgrade it to a teaching hospital.
Furthermore, NSBM has agreed to provide necessary funds for the development of Homagama Base Hospital in accordance with the standards of medical education published by the Sri Lanka Medical Council.
