Sri Lanka’s new Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Act was passed without a vote in Parliament today (Tuesday).
In addition the Tax Amnesty Bill was also passed with a 134/44 vote.
The SEC Act is aimed at plugging loopholes in current legislation to deter irregular and illegal trading in the stock market while also encouraging the growth of the market. (DEC)
