New System to detect fuel QR code thefts
The Ministry of Power and Energy has planned to introduce a new system to help people detect if people are using someone else’s QR code to purchase fuel.
A senior official of the Ministry told the Times Online that they decided to set up this system as result of the repeated complaints made by people that some people purchase fuel by using stolen QR codes.
The official explained that according to the new system the fuel amount purchased, time of fuel obtained as well as the address and the contact number of the filling station would be messaged. He also said that the owner of the QR code would be able to visit the fuel station and check the CCTV footage and identify the vehicle and take action.
He added that the system would be implemented in the upcoming week.
