The newborn Nile hippopotamus at the National Zoological Gardens was named ‘Wally’ on a suggestion made by a grade five student from Matara.
The name was selected following a competition organized by the Zoo.
Accordingly, the winner was Hasinidi Maleesha Dissanayake from Asian Grammar School, Matara.
A short while later, the official car of the Commander of the Navy, bearing plate NAHA 5006, departed from Navy House, Longdon Place, Colombo 7.
