Five parliamentary office staffers, one officer attached to the security division and three deployed in the security zone outside the Parliament complex have contracted COVID-19, Sergeant-at-Arms of the Parliament, Narendra Fernando said.
He said none of the 32 MPs who underwent PCR tests were COVID positive. Meanwhile, CCTV footages are studied to track down close associates of those who were tested positive for the virus.
“Parliament complex has been completely disinfected several times and none of the offices within the complex is closed. The offices and work stations of those who were tested positive are thoroughly disinfected and their travel within the complex has been restricted to close contacts,” he said.
