The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) has notified the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court today (October 18) that no further interventions will be pursued pertinent to the Rs. 17.85 million in the form of cash sighted at Former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s official room at the Official Presidential Residence in Colombo.
The CIABOC has reached this decision owing to the absence of clear substantiation.
In retrospect, the cash was uncovered by dissenters on July 9, 2022 after descending the Official Presidential Residence during mass anti-government people’s movements.
