Not happy with arrival figures:Tourism Chief

The country’s tourist arrival figures have dropped in September.
 
Only 29,802 tourists have arrived in the country in September whereas in August the number was 37,760. In July 47,293 tourists have visited SL.
 
“We are not happy with the arrival figures of the last nine months. September, throughout history has always recorded the lowest arrivals,” said Chairman of Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority Priantha Fernando.
 
He said they hope to have a five fold increase in comparison to last year by the end of this year. 
 
Last year a total of 194,495 tourists visited the country while this year has recorded 525,232 by September.
 
In pre-COVID years the country recoded an annual tourist arrival of more than two million and September attracting about 150,000 tourists.
