The online passport service where persons will be able to obtain their passports to their homes was launched today.
President Ranil Wickremesinghe was the chief guest of the event launched from the Homagama Divisional Secretariat.
Under the system, persons will be able to submit their applications by visiting http://www.immigration.gov.lk site.
The applicant will be able to upload scanned copies of all relevant original documents and thereafter visit the designated centre and submit their fingerprints.
The Special passport will be issued in 14 days for normal service or in three days for priority service after fingerprints have been obtained.
