A group of opposition MPs today (12) handed over a No-Confidence Motion (NCM) on Deputy Defence Minister Aruna Jayasekara to Speaker Jagath Wickramaratne.
The NCM against Mr. Jayasekara, a retired Major General of the Sri Lanka Army, cites serious concerns over a potential conflict of interest regarding the investigation into the Easter Sunday terrorist attacks, given he was Commander Security Forces (East) during key incidents linked to the attacks, including the Vavunathivu police killings and the Sainthamaruthu explosion.
