Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa signed papers of No- Confidence motion and Impeachment motion against the President today reiterating that the Opposition will continue to demand whole regime change and push for progressive Constitutional amendments to strengthen Parliamentary democracy.
“WITHOUT CHANGE, WE WILL NOT STOP. @sjbsrilanka signing of No Confidence Motion & Impeachment Motion. Constitutional Amendment to abolish Executive Presidency & Repeal 20th Amendment on the way.” Sajith Premadasa tweeted on his official Twitter handle.
Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MPs who gathered at the Opposition Leader's office today also placed their signature on both motions. Other political parties in the Opposition including two MPs from All Ceylon Tamil Congress led by Gajendrakumar Ponnambalam also signed the motions today.
Parliament is scheduled to convene on January 19 and the proceedings will continue till January 22.
