Investigations are underway to identify and arrest suspects responsible for smuggling 100 packets containing more than 110kg of heroin that were recovered from a property in Weeraketiya, Tangalle yesterday (9).
Police Media Unit said the stock of heroin, packed in 100 packets, was found concealed in a plot of land in Athubode, Weeraketiya where cinnamon was being grown and which also included a partially constructed house.
The raid was conducted by officers from the Tangalle Division Crime Investigation Bureau, who found 110.46kg of heroin inside the 100 packets. The drugs were handed over to the Weeraketiya Police.
The Tangalle Division Crime Investigation Bureau is conducting investigations to identify and arrest those who smuggled and concealed the heroin at the location.
