Over 460,000 persons above the age of 60 have not received at least a single dose of COVID vaccine, an official of the Ministry of Home Affairs said.
He said following instructions of Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa, a country-wide survey was conducted with the support of grama niladharis and area public health inspectors.
“The addresses and contact number lists have been compiled, all elderly persons will be vaccinated prior to the vaccination of those between 18 to 30 years,” he said.
The government earlier announced that the lockdown period will be used to vaccinate those above 60 in vaccination centres as well as at homes.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs said it is compiling a list of members of the clergy above 60 years old and have not been able to receive a single dose of the vaccine.
