Flooding has temporarily displaced over 30,000 in Batticaloa and 57,000 in Ampara to relatives houses or temporary camps, reported officials from the District Secretariats.
So far one death has been reported in Batticaloa.
According to the Deputy Director of the District Disaster Management Center in Ampara and Batticaloa, M. A. C. M. Riyas, this is the worst flooding he has seen in a decade.
