A Police Constable (PC) was remanded for fourteen days over the shooting incident in Batticaloa which took the life of a dipper driver on Monday.
Batticaloa Magistrate A.C.Rishwan visited the crime scene yesterday in front of the residence of State Minister S. Viyalanderan yesterday for further magisterial inquiries.
The victim, 35-year-old Mahalingam Balasundaram died on the spot when the PC who was on duty in front of the State Minister's residence opened fire following a heated argument.
Preliminary police investigations revealed that personal disputes between the two parties led to the shooting and a separate police team is appointed to probe the incident.
