Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa informed Parliament today that the Government will allow the burial of victims who die from COVID-19.
Mr Rajapaksa made the statement in answer to a question raised by Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Colombo District MP S.M. Marikkar.
Mr Marikkar pointed to a statment made in Parliament yesterday by State Minister COVID Disease Control that COVID-19 does not spread via groundwater. If this is the case, Mr Marikkar asked why the Government was not allowing those who died from COVID-19 to be buried.
Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena moved to order the MP to sit down, stating that Mr Marikkar's question was not a point of order and that he was creating an unnecessary issue. However, the Prime Minister then got up to say that the Government would allow for the burial of victims of COVID-19.
