Pakistan's support for Sri Lanka had been and will continue to be across all divides, the country's High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Maj.Gen. (Retd.) Muhammad Saad Khattak said.
He made the remarks while addressing a media briefing today at the Pakistani High Commission in Colombo. He noted that this has been the stated position of Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan and his Government.
"Pakistan will remain steadfast in its support to Sri Lanka. During this period when the entire world has been in a difficult time, our region too has seen difficulties of all kinds. We have tried our level best to stand with each other in this difficult time and will continue to do so," he asserted.
Speaking on Pakistani PM Imran Khan's recent visit to Sri Lanka, High Commissioner Khattak said the Premier's focus is on geo-economics and it remains on taking the bilateral trade, social, tourism and educational relationship between the two countries to new heights,
Pakistan has already started building on Mr Khan's visit, he observed, noting that several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) related to trade and tourism have already been signed. Pakistan was also working on strengthening people-to-people contacts with Sri Lanka.
