Senior additional Solicitor General Parinda Ranasinghe took oaths as the Acting Attorney General before the Chief Justice Jayantha Jayasuriya today morning.
He is appointed to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of AG Sanjaya Rajaratnam last week.
Earlier, The Sunday Times reported that Mr. Ranasinghe’s name is later due to be submitted to the Constitutional Council for approval for his appointment to the AG’s post permanently.
