The new Parliament will decide if the Local Government Election Act needs to be amended if fresh nominations should be called for the Local Government elections for which nominations have already been accepted.
Cabinet Spokesman Minister Vijitha Herath told the post Cabinet news conference that some of the candidates have passed away or not in politics now.
He said, however, a decision has to be taken after the new Parliament meets if fresh nominations were to be accepted.
