A passenger trying pass the Customs officials on a wheelchair was arrested with narcotics last night at the Bandaranaike International Airport.
Officers attached to Narcotic Control unit at Bandaranayake International Airport arrested the passenger at the green channel.
He had arrived from Thailand yesterday night with a stock of Narcotic substances identified as Cannabis ( Kush) consealed in the checked luaggage and the Back pack.
The passenger attempted to pass the Customs area with assistance of a wheel chair.
The suspect was a Sri Lankan passport holder and arrived to Sri Lanka from Thailand by flight no. FD 140 operated by Air Asia Airline around 10.25pm yesterday.
The 58 year old passenger was from Maradana, Colombo.
The weight of the arrested Narcotic substance is around 5kg and with a street value of Rs.40 million.
Sri lanka Customs Narcotic Control Unit has requested the assistant of the Police Narcotic Bureau and further investigation underway.
