All passengers departing from Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) will be allowed to check-in 4 hours before their scheduled departure time.
This measure has been introduced to improve the overall travel experience and facilitate a smoother passenger flow at BIA, the Airport management said.
Earlier passengers were required to call over only three hours before departure.
However, Airport sources said that the new move will see a congestion in the airport as passengers would be calling over four hours before the flight, instead of three.
Officials said the arrangement was introduced as there has been instances where there has been a last minute rush to clear passengers thereby inconveniencing the staff.
