The Ministry of Public Security has claimed that the shortage of passports has ended.
The announcement came as the Immigration Department put into effect a 24 hour service to issue passports.
The Ministry said all arrangements including transport facilities have been put in place for the 24 hour service.
The Minister of Public Security Ananda Wijepala on Tuesday visited the Department and inspected the services.
However, if the applicants have any shortcomings or issues related to their documents it was advisable for them to call over during normal working hours, the Ministry said.
