The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrested Pastor Jerome Fernando after recording a statement today and he is to be produced before courts, lawyers appeared on behalf of Pastor Fernando said.
They said that the CID had arrested the pastor when he came to CID to provide a statement. The pastor yesterday too had appeared before CID to record a statement which went nearly eight hours.
The pastor was wanted by the police after he made a controversial statement regarding other religions.
Former President Ranil Wickremesighe was remanded till August 26 by Fort Magistrate Nilupuli Lankapura a short while ago.
Former President Ranil Wickremesinghe was arrested by the CID this afternoon in connection with the misuse of public funds.
