The Crop and Food Security Assessment Mission (CFSAM) report issued by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization(FAO) indicates an improvement in food security across all provinces of the country, the President's Office said.

Dr. Sulakshana Jayawardena, additional secretary of the Presidential Secretariat denying claims that 7.5 million Sri Lankans were lacking adequate meals said, the CFSAM survey revealed that only 3.9 million people are moderately acutely food insecure.

"This figure represents a notable decrease of nearly 40 percent compared to the previous year's figures recorded in June/July. Moreover, the severe acute food insecurity rate has declined from 66,000 individuals to approximately 10,000," he said.
