The Anuradhapura Magistrate today gave permission to the police to keep in custody for 48 hours the suspect arrested in connection with the rape of a lady doctor at the Anuradhapura General Hospital on Monday.
Magistrate Nalaka Sanjeeewa Jayasuriya directed the Police to question the suspect and produce him before Court at the end of the 48-hour detention period.
The suspect, a resident of Galnewa, is a 34 years old army deserter, Police said.
