Four persons have been arrested for entering a school in Hali-ela, Badulla with a firearm in possession, Police said.
One of the suspects has arrived at the school to conduct a psychology workshop for students while the three others are said to be his personal bodyguards. The arrest has been made following a tip-off to the Hali-ela police.
Police said the men aged 36, 24, 23 and 30 are residents of Negombo, Chilaw and Ratmalana. Police have seized an air rifle and 129 air gun pellets.
It is reported that the workshop has been conducted without prior permission from the provincial or zonal education offices and the instructor is not a registered counsellor.
Police warned school authorities to refrain from allowing such persons to school premises unless official permission is granted.
