Police have launched an investigation into the death of a 16 year old domestic servant who was attached to the residence of former Minister Rishad Bathiudeen in Colombo, police said.
On July 3, the teenage girl was admitted to the Colombo National Hospital with severe burn injuries and succumbed to her injuries yesterday. She was employed at the Parliamentarian’s residence on Bauddhaloka Mawatha, Colombo.
Police spokesman Senior Deputy Inspector General (SDIG) Ajith Rohana said at least ten statements have been recorded so far over the death and an autopsy was conducted yesterday as part of the Magisterial inquiry.
Borella police are scheduled to file the reports to Courts shortly and further investigations are underway over the incident.
