Police are probing an incident where one of their police constables deployed at the Monaragala hospital sexually abused a 15 year old boy warded for treatment.
The investigation has been ordered by Senior Superintendent of Police Buddhi Udugamasuriya after hospital authorities complained of the incident.
The boy had been admitted for treatment following an assault incident.
The Police constable attached to the Police post had taken the student to the bathroom and abused him.
The victim had complained to the doctor of the ward who in turn complained to the police and the Judicial Medical Officer.
However, the policeman has only been transferred instead of being arrested.
