A Police defender vehicle has met an accident causing the death of a motorcyclist yesterday (December 29) at Tharapuram, Mannar.
A motorcyclist who attempted to overtake a bus while travelling on the Mannar-Talaimannar road towards Talaimannar, where he collided with a Police Defender vehicle travelling the opposite way.
The motorcyclist, a 31 year old resident of East Pannankattukotuwa, Mannar, was seriously injured and admitted to the Mannar Hospital, where he passed away.
Having revealed that both the motorcyclist and the Police Constable driver of the Defender vehicle was at fault, the Constable was arrested and produced to the Mannar Magistrate Court, where he was remanded until January 9.
