The Elections Commission has called representatives of political parties for a discussion on the Local Government elections tomorrow.
The move comes in the wake of some of the parties still raising doubts if the elections will be held as scheduled.
Chairman of the Elections Commission Nimal G Punchihewa said that preparations were underway for the elections, but would also have to await the Supreme Court decision which is hearing three petitions related to the elections.
The Supreme Court is taking up cases on February 10 and 14.
Meanwhile applications for the postal voting is due to end midnight today.
The order to print the polling cards is due to be sent out today.
Mr Punchihewa said in the event a decision is taken to delay the elections the process could recommence without additional cost for the Commission.
Meanwhile the Elections Commission was yet to finalise the breakdown of the parties contesting the polls. The Commission said that the list was being prepared and would be released soon.
