Popular grade five tuition teacher, Hayeshika Fernando wanted over assaulting a 21 year old youth was granted bail today after she surrendered to courts.
Her husband and manager of her education institute who were remanded earlier over the same incident were also granted bail today.
Police said that the three suspects were released on surety bails of Rs one million each.
They added that the teacher who had allegedly assaulted the youth over a social media comment was evading arrest last week.
Katana Police said that they received a complaint on May 07, 2025 of a 21 year old youth being assaulted.
According to the complaint that the youth had been assaulted over a comment on a social media post where his younger sister had commented on. The complaint also states that the youth had been assaulted on the head, face and lower abdomen area.
The youth is currently being treated at the Katana Hospital.
The police said that the court case is scheduled to be taken up on September 10.
