President Ranil Wickremesinghe has issued an extraordinary gazette notification declaring the Postal Service as an essential service.
The gazette comes as a large number of trade unions are preparing to launch an island-wide strike tomorrow (15) in protest against the government's tax policies.
A Sri Lanka Air Force Bell 212 helicopter belonging to the No. 72 squadron has crashed into the Madhuru Oya reservoir this morning, Air FOrce Media Spokesman Eranda Geeganage said.
