Postal services across the country has been disrupted today due to a strike by workers who are protesting over a series of issues, including opposing the invitations foreign companies to take over some of the historic buildings owned by the Department.
The Nuwara Eliya and Kandy Post offices are among the buildings.
However they are also demanding that the postal workers should be given a Rs 20,000 allowance from January onwards.
Joint Convener of the Joint Postal Trade Union Collective, Chinthaka Bandara said the strike will continue until Tuesday midnight.
The strike will also have an email of clearing overseas parcels and dispatch of foreign mail related to the Christmas season.
