Plans are ahead to reduce power shedding in tourist hotspots and provide diesel through SLTB depots to tourist hotels operating on generators, Tourism Minister Prasanna Ranatunga said.
He said a meeting on this was held today with senior officials representing Tourism and Energy Ministries, heads of CEB, CPC, Tourism Authority, Police attending the meeting.
The Minister said the Ceylon Electricity Board will look into the possibility of preventing power cuts in tourist areas, similar to the present industrial zone exemption.
Minister Ranatunge said tourist hotels and boutiques registered with the SLTDA will be prioritised when issuing gas cylinders.
