President Gotabaya Rajapaksa today directed health officials to complete the vaccination programme against COVID-19 in the Western Province by the end of the month.
Accordingly all persons above 30 should be vaccinated in the Colombo, Gampaha and Kalutara districts by July 31.
The President’s office said that the directive was given when he met with the special committee on control of the spread of COVID-19 and the vaccination programme.
The directive came as one million more vaccines imported from China arrived today while similar stocks are due in the coming weeks.
The President’s office said already in the Colombo district more than 60 per cent, in the Gampaha district 47 per cent and in the Kalutara district 34 per cent of the persons above 30 years have received the vaccine.
