President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has instructed health authorities to commence administering the second batch of 500, 000 doses of the Sinopharm COVID vaccine received as a grant from China from today (26).
Accordingly, the vaccines will be distributed to several districts, based on priority recommendations made by health authorities, the President's Media Unit stated.
The latest batch of 500, 000 Sinopharm vaccine doses that had been received as grant from the Chinese Government arrived at the Bandaranike International Airport at 12.05am today. China's Ambassador to Sri Lanka Qi Zhenhong handed over the consignment at the airport to a delegation of Government Ministers led by Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi.
