President Ranil Wickremesinghe left for Cuba this morning(13), President's Media Division (PMD) said.
The President is to address the the G77+China Leaders' Summit in Havana, Cuba to be held on September 15 to 16.
President Wickremesinghe received an official invitation from Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel to participate in the summit. The PMD said bilateral discussions between President Wickremesinghe and the Cuban President will take place during the summit.
Secretary to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Aruni Wijewardena along with a delegation of senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will accompany the President.
President Wickremesinghe will leave for the United States to attend the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York from September 19 to 21.
Our airport correspondent said the President and the delegation left the country in a Dubai-bound Emirates flight at 3.15 am today.
