President Ranil Wickremesinghe who was on an official visit to Maldives has arrived back on the island this morning (November 18), an officer in charge of the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) said.
In order to participate in the inauguration ceremony of Dr. Mohamed Muizzu on November 17, the incoming President of the Republic of Maldives, President Wickremesinghe left the island on Thursday evening (16).
In a second-round runoff election, Dr. Muizzu defeated incumbent Ibrahim Solih and emerged victorious in the Maldives presidential election held in September 2023.
