President Ranil Wickremesinghe has pledged to release 22 out of 46 Tamil detainees held under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA) on a presidential pardon on September 20, Tamil Eelam Liberation Organisation (TELO) Batticaloa District MP Govindan Karunakaram said.
He added that the President made the pledge when he met a TELO delegation led by party leader Selvam Adaikkalanathan on Saturday (3).
Mr Karunakaram said the President informed them that the remaining PTA detainees will be released after they underwent "rehabilitation." (PCK)
