The inaugural session of the Tenth Parliament is set to take place today (21), with President Anura Kumara Dissanayake presenting the Government’s Policy Statement at 11:30 a.m.
The session begins at 10:00 a.m. with the election of the Speaker, Deputy Speaker, and Deputy Chairperson of Committees. MPs will take their oaths, and for the first day, there are no formal seating arrangements.
The ceremonial event will exclude military honors, gun salutes, and motorcades.
The President’s address, formerly known as the “Throne Speech,” outlines the government’s vision and policy roadmap for the nation.
