President Anua kumara Dissanayake today vowed to continue his fight against what he called a ‘dark administration’ built with weaponry power.
Addressing an event, after presenting the " Aktrapathra " ( Act of Appointment ) to Sasthrapthi Sathdharmavachiswra Sri Sumanartissa Narampanawe Ananda as the Anunayake of Asgiri Maha Vihare at the historic Audience Hall he said there would be no turning back in the efforts to wipe out the ‘dark administration.’
President Anura kumara Dissanayake in a address to the Maha Sangha of both Maha Vihare he declared that he would wipe out the "dark administration’ in the country and to this end the Maha Sangha has a duty cast on them to join him in this endeavor.
Further he said that there is the Police and in that there is a group who are supporting the ' dark administration’, therefore we are now in a divided ' Government '
‘One is the government that has been elected by the People and the other is a 'dark administration’ which has been created with arms.
“We have to decide, whatever the consequences are to drown the ' dark administration’ and go along the wishes of the people. If not we should forget about the established government and go along with the ' dark ' administration.
Speaking further he said that it is time to think of repealing the Buddhist temporalities Act and the Mahanayakes whom he had met in the morning has specfically said that section 41 and 42 should be amended in the Act. He said that they were amended and presented to the Mahanayake's previously and with their views they have been amended and presented and then they are with the Legal draftsman.
Further he said that legality alone does not suffice.
He added that the Executive President has wide powers, but he has no such intensions.
'I know the limits of my powers. But many think that I have wide powers. Yes, there is that remark in the constitution. Any culprit can be given a pardon - it is so. Any amount of Government finances could be used there is no limit in the Constitution. Any amount of funds could be misused - there is no limit in the constitution. Any amount of palaces could be built - there is no limit in the constitution. But we are endeavoring to show that there are limits. But the Government cannot do what they want."
The president added that the Maha Sangha has pointed out these failures over and over again. “That we are ready to accept “.
The President touched on the Tourism as well.
The President touched on the amendment to the Penal Code regarding corporal punishment and said that if it is necessary amendments would be done, but if not it would stay in the same manner.
