President’s Secretary E.M.S.B Ekanayake has requested the Tamil National Alliance(TNA) to submit their views and proposals regarding implementing the 13th Amendment to the Constitution.
In a letter addressed to TNA leader R.Sampanthan, Mr Ekanayake said President Wickremesinghe has directed him to get the views and proposals of the TNA in writing on or before August 15.
This letter was issued in reference to the All-Party Conference held on July 26.
President Wickremesinghe is due to present 13A proposals to Parliament next week.
On Tuesday(01) a TNA delegation led by its leader R.Sampanthan met with Indian High Commissioner Gopal Baglay to discuss the implementation of 13A, emphasising police powers and other concerns.
President Wickremesinghe met with Tamil party leaders prior to his official visit to India to discuss the full implementation of the 13th Amendment sans police powers.
During his official visit to India, the President said he presented Premier Modi a comprehensive proposal for furthering reconciliation and power-sharing through devolution.
