The price of loaf of bread will be reduced by Rs. 10 with effect from midnight today, The All Island Bakery Owner’s Association has decided.
The President of the All Island Bakery Owners’ Association, N. K. Jayawardena told Timesonline that this decision was taken since the price of wheat flour had dropped significantly.
At the end of 2021, the price of a kilogram of flour was Rs. 84.50, which increased drastically to Rs. 400, where the price of bread increased too.
However, the price of flour had decreased from Rs. 400 to Rs. 250 - Rs. 255, currently, allowing bakeries to reduce the price of bread by Rs. 10.
“We reduced the price about a month ago by Rs. 10. Together, we have reduced around Rs. 20 now”, Mr. Jayawardena added.
