Primary school teachers are facing a gamut of issues as the education authorities have decided not give vacation during the upcoming GCE Advanced Level examination period which is to be held from February 07 onwards.
Many primary school teachers have already made preparations to engage in exam duties as they can earn an extra earning apart from their usual salary.
Therefore if the primary schools remain open during the period where teachers are engaging in exam duties, there might be issues as the teachers would be unable to carry out teaching by attending to the children.
The principals of the primary schools too are facing a dilemma on finding teachers to carry out academic activities, while the primary teachers are engaging on exam duties.
A spokesperson for the Teacher Services Union said that they have notified the Education Ministry regarding the issue. They added the Ministry has not given any solution for the issue.
Meanwhile the COVID -19 pandemic as well as another viral flu is getting transmitted among the school teachers and students.
