The Prisons Department has opened into an inquiry over a complaint from a doctor at the Prisons that former Minister Rishad Bathiudeen had threatened him recently.
An Assistant Superintendent of Prisons has been assigned to probe the incident, Prisons Commissioner Chandna Ekanayake told a news conference.
This follows a complaint lodged by the doctor to the Borella police that the MP had threatened him after a dispute trying to visit the doctor out of his turn.
The Colombo Crimes Division had already opened an inquiry into the incident. The CCD has recorded a statement from the doctor and the MP
The MP had claimed he should be given parliamentary privileges as he was a MP.
