The probe on the Yala-off track drive incident has been widened with efforts to identify more persons involved in the violation.
Wildlife officials said among those who had been identified was a close relative Wildlife Minister Mahinda Amaraweera .
He was arrested and produced before the Thissamaharama Magsitrate.
The Suspect Identified as Amaraweera Vidana Kankanamge Dulitha Nuwan Amararaweera (29) son of Minister Amaraweera’s brother. The suspect was released on two surety bails of Rs 500,000 each.
Suspect was arrested for being a party to violating the wildlife park laws. He was identified from the CCTV footage at the Yala park entrance. The video footage was taken when the suspect had gotten into one of the vehicles involved in the incident.
Wildlife officials said they were awaiting details from the Motor Traffic Department as well to identify few more owners linked to the incident.
