Wildlife Minister Mahinda Amaraweera has ordered an investigation over an incident of persons clearing a section belonging to the Yala Wildlife park over the past few days.
A Ministry official said that two teams from the Forest Conservation Department and the Wildlife Department have been sent from Colombo today morning to investigate and repot.
A section of the forest in the Gal-Ara area had been cleared in the past five days using heavy machinery.
Environmental groups said that the area officials had been informed, but they did not take action.
