Former Vice Chancellor and Senior Professor of Demography Emeritus Professor D.M.S.S. Lakshman Dissanayake assumed duties as a Member of the Election Commission today (10).
He was appointed by President Ranil Wickremesinghe.
The five member Election Commission therefore consists of R.M.A.L. Ratnayake (Chairman), M.A.P.C. Perera (Member), Ameer Mohommed Faiz (Member), Anusuya Shanmuganathan (Member) and Prof. D.M.S.S. Lakshman Dissanayake.
Professor Dissanayake has been recognized with numerous awards and positions in the field of Demography, both nationally and internationally and held various academic and administrative positions at the University of Colombo during his tenure.
