The proposed strike by the non-academic staff of the University of Peradeniya due on June 1, has been temporarily called off, following a decision arrived by the Council of the University of Peradeniya.
The Joint Federation of the Trade Unions of the University said the Council of the University has given the authority that all affairs of the Security Division be handled by the Registrar, and he appoints a Senior Additional Register to administer the Security Division.
It is also revealed that the allegations against the Chief Security Officer be investigated by a three members committee appointed by the Registrar.
On these decisions taken by the Council of the University, the Federation has temporarily taken the decision taken to withhold the strike on the first of June.
